FDA gives green light to oral pill for postpartum depression.


The FDA has given the green light to a new pill called Zurzuvae, also known as zuranolone, for treating postpartum depression (PPD). This pill, made by Sage Therapeutics and Biogen, is taken once a day for two weeks. The medication could also affect a person's ability to drive or perform other tasks that require focus, so patients are advised not to drive or use heavy machinery for at least 12 hours after taking it.
