The number of snakebite patients in Bara has increased in recent weeks, with the recent rains making it more likely for people to be bitten.

Snakebite patients

According to hospital sources, 15 to 20 snakebitten patients arrive at the Provincial Hospital Kalaiya every day. The hospital is the only one in Bara that has the facilities to treat snakebite patients. Snakebite patients from different parts of Bara used to come to Kalaiya Hospital. But now, with the increase in the number of patients, the hospital is struggling to cope.

In the financial year 2077-078, 601 people got sick due to snake bites in Bara. In 2078/079, 872 patients and 1 person died. In the financial year 2079/080, 773 patients were infected by snake bites and 3 people died.

According to the hospital, 155 patients have been admitted due to snake bites till July of the current financial year.

The increase in snakebite patients is a major concern for the people of Bara. Many people are afraid to go out in the fields or forests, and some have even stopped working.

The government has started working on the issue, but there's still more to do. The government needs to provide more anti-venom, and it needs to raise awareness about snakebite prevention.

People also need to be aware of the dangers of snakebites and take precautions to avoid being bitten. They should wear boots and long pants when they are in areas where snakes are common, and they should be careful not to step on or disturb snakes.

If someone is bitten by a snake, they should seek medical attention immediately. The sooner they get treatment, the better their chances of survival.

The increase in snakebite patients is a serious problem in Bara. The government and the people need to work together to address this problem and prevent more deaths.
