The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a hike in the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene, effective from August 1, 2023. The price of petrol has been increased by Rs 9 per litre, while diesel and kerosene have been increased by Rs 7 per litre. The new prices are as follows:
- Petrol: Rs 173 per litre
- Diesel: Rs 153 per litre
- Kerosene: Rs 133 per litre
However, the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been reduced by Rs 130 per cylinder. The new price of LPG is Rs 1,660 per cylinder
The NOC said that the price hike was necessary due to the increase in the international prices of petroleum products. The corporation also said that it is incurring a loss of Rs 8.56 per litre on petrol, Rs 4.46 per litre on diesel, and Rs 375.13 per LPG cylinder.
The price hike has been met with mixed reactions from the public. Some people have expressed their dissatisfaction with the hike, while others have said that they understand the need for it.
The NOC has said that it will continue to monitor the international prices of petroleum products and adjust the prices accordingly.
