Nijgadh, Bara – A provincial-level stakeholder interaction workshop on system-based sustainable forest management was successfully held in Nijgadh, Bara district.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Forests and Environment under the Madhesh Province Government (Janakpurdham, Dhanusha), took place on Jestha 16 at Hotel Rajmarg, Nijgadh. The programme focused on the concept of sustainable forest management, provincial planning, and the role of local stakeholders.
Participants included
representatives from various related organisations across districts, forestry
experts, government employees, and community leaders. The interaction
prioritised forest management challenges, potential solutions, and long-term
strategic planning in Bara, Parsa,
Rautahat, and Sarlahi—the four districts under the provincial
jurisdiction.
The workshop was
chaired by District Forest Officer Rajiv
Kumar Jha, with Nijgadh
Municipality Mayor Surath Puri as the chief guest. Other prominent
attendees included Jagannath Prasad
Jaiswal, Director of the Forest Directorate, Madhesh Province; Ramji Bajagai, President of FECOFUN
Bara; Kushbahadur Thapa,
President of FECOFUN Nijgadh; and Dhanbahadur
Khulal, Vice-President.
Forest officers Rajiv Kumar Jha (Bara Division Forest
Office), Niraj Pokhrel (Nijgadh
Sub-Division), and Anil Koirala
(Land Conservation Office, Parsa) delivered detailed presentations using slides
to inform stakeholders on the forest promotion system and related strategies.
Mayor Surath Puri, Ramji Bajagai, and others actively participated in
discussions and shared insights on enhancing forest systems and addressing
local forest-related issues.
According to the Ministry, the programme was an integral part of its planned activities for the fiscal year 2081/82, aimed at strengthening sustainable forest and environmental practices within the province.
