Nijgadh Bara - Ward No. 4 emerged victorious in the inaugural match of the first Bikala Regmi Memorial Junior Cup Football Tournament on Wednesday, defeating Ward No. 10.
The closely contested match concluded in a goalless draw after regulation time, pushing the decision to a penalty shootout. Even the initial penalty shootout ended in a tie, leading to a tense sudden-death scenario. Ultimately, Ward No. 10 succumbed when jersey number 21 player Kabin Dingdung's shot failed to find the back of the net.
Sahil Dhami, the goalkeeper for Ward No. 4, was declared
the 'Man of the Match' for his stellar performance. He was awarded a trophy and
a cash prize of NPR 1,000 by Ward No. 4 Chairman Bishan Sapkota, Member
Secretary of the Municipal Sports Development Committee Uttam Lamichhane, the
late Bikala Regmi's mother Kamala Regmi, and journalist Gokul Ghorsaine.
The tournament, organized by the Nijgadh Municipal Sports
Development Committee, is currently underway at the Shaheed Hiralal Stadium in
Nijgadh-9. The Nijgadh Football Club is managing the ongoing competition.
