Nijgadh, Bara – A four-day "Capacity Building Orientation Program" aimed at providing legal knowledge to Dalit women has commenced in Nijgadh. The initiative, funded by the Nijgadh Municipality Executive's targeted fund, began on Saturday, May 31st, and is being held at the assembly hall of the Baghbhairav Community Forest Group in Nijgadh-4.
Organized by Fast Track Media Pvt. Ltd. with the financial support of the Nijgadh Municipality Executive Office, the program will equip participants with crucial information on various legal topics. These include women's rights, legal protection against discrimination, domestic violence, and property rights.The orientation directly addresses the reality that women
within the Dalit community continue to face significant disadvantages socially,
economically, and legally. This program is designed to enhance their
capabilities, boost their confidence, and ensure their access to legal avenues.
"This program is not merely an informative activity
to make women aware and capable in legal matters; it's a campaign to give them
a voice," stated a representative from Fast Track Media Pvt. Ltd., the
organizer.
The program is being conducted in collaboration with
various media outlets, including Faraka Nepal, Radio Madhya Tarai, and Madhesh
Pravah Online and Weekly Newspaper. Instructors are employing interactive
methods to provide practical legal knowledge to the women.
Participants have already lauded the orientation as
useful, informative, and a significant step towards empowerment. The organizers
have confirmed that the program will conclude with practical exercises and the
distribution of certificates to all participants.
During the inauguration, key figures including Ward
Chairman Bishan Sapkota, coordinator of the Untouchability and Discrimination
Monitoring Committee and Nijgadh Municipality Executive Member Aruna Bik,
Executive Member Mina Chaurel, member of the Untouchability and
Discrimination Monitoring Committee Indra Bik, former public
representatives Jairam Kumar and Maheshi Kumar, former Land
Commission expert Kedar Gautam, and social worker Beni Bahadur Moktan
delivered important speeches on legal provisions.
