More and more electric stoves are being brought into Nepal as the government makes it easier for people to use electricity in their homes.
According to the records from the Department of Customs (DoC), Nepal brought in 204,393 electric stoves in the fiscal year 2022/23. To make this happen, the country spent around Rs 425.47 million.
Compared to the previous year, there was a 30 percent increase in the number of electric stoves bought during this time. Out of the total, 130,745 were induction stoves, and 73,648 were infrared stoves.
In the fiscal year 2021/22, Nepal spent about Rs 322.84 million to import 158,264 electric stoves. This included 116,810 induction stoves and 41,454 infrared stoves. Similarly, in the year 2020/21, the country spent roughly Rs 248.20 million to get 154,000 electric stoves from other countries. Among these, 2,400 were infrared stoves, and the rest were induction stoves.
