On Thursday, the police arrested a member of the Nepali Congress party, Sunil Sharma, because they suspect he had a fake academic certificate.
KATHMANDU, Aug 10: A special team from Nepal's Central Investigation Bureau apprehended Sunil Sharma at his location in Golfutar, Kathmandu.
According to information from the police, Sharma's arrest is connected to an investigation about a certificate that he claimed was from an Indian institution. However, it was later discovered that the certificate was not genuine. Sharma, who owns a medical college, used this certificate to pursue his MBBS degree.
In the previous year's elections, he was elected to the House of Representatives, representing Morang-3. Within the Congress party, Sharma is known to have a close connection to the Sekhar Koirala group.
At the same time, the police have also informed the Speaker about the arrest of this lawmaker.
