Community Development and Participation on Display at Planning Fair

 A community planning exhibition fair was recently held in Simara, Bara, showcasing the community’s active involvement in development and construction. Organized by the Housing Support Group 'Lumanti' in collaboration with JitpurSimara Sub-Metropolitan City, the event saw the signing of plans and commitments by four wards in the sub-metropolis.

Lumanti visited the wards, identifying and listing ten crucial schemes needed by the communities. Mayor Rajan Poudel, Deputy Mayor Bhola Prasad Adhikari, and the ward chairmen of the four wards signed the plans, pledging to complete feasible projects and discussing those requiring longer durations. Mayor Poudel, the chief guest, expressed his commitment to fulfilling all community-initiated plans and praised Lumanti for engaging various stakeholders through the exhibition fair.

In wards 9, 11, 19, and 20, Lumanti plans to construct 140 houses for economically disadvantaged families with support from the sub-metropolis. The sub-metropolitan city will contribute Rs 50,000 per house, while Lumanti will provide Rs 220,000 per house, aiming to complete the construction within three years in collaboration with the community, according to Ananta Bajracharya, head of Lumanti's records and information section.

The event, chaired by Lumanti board member Sarala K.C., was attended by Deputy Mayor Bhola Prasad Adhikari, President of the City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohan Sharma Lamichhane, Ward No. 9 Chair Motilal Yadav, Ward No. 11 Chair Bindalal Shah, Ward No. 19 Chair Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri, Ward No. 20 Chair Rasul Mia, and many residents from the four wards. The program was conducted by Rabikant Tibari, with coordinator Abdul Kayes delivering the welcome address.

This fair not only highlighted the community’s developmental needs but also strengthened the collaboration between local government and residents, fostering a spirit of unity and shared responsibility for the region’s progress.
