Nijgadh, Nepal – Ward No. 5 of Nijgadh is actively working towards becoming tuberculosis-free through a comprehensive door-to-door screening campaign. The initiative, which ran for a week from May 12 to June 18, 2025 (Jestha 29 to Asar 4, 2082), involved dedicated efforts from health workers, female health volunteers, ward members, and social workers from the Bagdev Health Institution.
The
campaign focused on identifying individuals exhibiting initial symptoms of
tuberculosis and providing them with essential counseling. Those suspected of
having the disease were promptly referred to nearby health facilities for
further testing and diagnosis.
Ward Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa Magar emphasized the critical role of community participation and increased awareness in ensuring the success of such public health initiatives. The ward office reported that the campaign significantly boosted public awareness regarding tuberculosis and facilitated early detection and treatment. Moving forward, the ward office plans to continue implementing similar public health programs to enhance community well-being.
