The First prestigious ' Birgunj Gold Cup Football Tournament - 2080' held in Madhes Province has been claimed by Nepal Police Club.

In the final match that took place on Saturday at Birgunj’s  Adarshanagar Stadium, the Nepal Police Club secured the title by defeating Tribhuvan Army Club, 2-0 in the tiebreaker.

After 90 minutes of play, The decision was taken through a tie-breaker when the match ended up in a goalless draw in the allotted time. With this victory, the Nepal Police Club received a cash prize of NPR 1,111,111, while the runner-up, Army Club, was rewarded with NPR 555,555.

In the tiebreaker, all four strikers from the Army failed to score goals, So the title went to the Nepal Police Club, while the captain of Nepal Police, Ram Vaju, and Buddha Tamang scored goals, whereas Army's goalkeeper Vikesh Kuthu managed to stop Ujjwal Rai's penalty shot but was unable to save Ujjwal's second attempt.

In the tiebreaker, Army captain Nayug Shrestha's shot went off the second bar of the goal post, while Bimal Pandey and Santosh KC's shots were blocked by Police goalkeeper Satrudhan Chaudhary. Jitendra Karki's shot hit the fence of the goal post and came back

Nepal Police Club had missed opportunities during the regulated time of the game. Ujjwal Rai, in the 36th minute, attempted a strike from outside the box but was thwarted by the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Ujjwal attempted a strike from inside the box, which was blocked by Army's goalkeeper Vikesh Kuthu.

In the 55th minute, the Nepal Police missed another scoring opportunity. A pass by Pratap Gurung to Vivek Santoshi was intercepted by Army's goalkeeper Vikesh.

During the 69th minute, the Army also had an opportunity to score, but Aasik Babu Chaudhary's header went wide of the Police's goal.

In the tiebreaker, Army's captain Navayug Shrestha won the Player of the Match award for his excellent goalkeeping. He was rewarded with NPR 50,000 in cash. The Best Player of the Tournament award went to Nepal Police's Pratap Gurung, who received a cash prize of NPR 20,000. Similarly, the Best Goalkeeper award was given to Police's Satrudhan Chaudhary, the Best Midfielder award to Police's Ujjwal Rai, and the Best Defender award to Army's Vimal Pandey, each receiving NPR 20,000.

 The Best Coach of the tournament was Chetan Ghimire from Nepal Police, who also received NPR 20,000 in cash.

 During the tournament's closing ceremony, the Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Rajesh Man Singh, awarded the champion and runner-up teams with trophies and medals. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Hiralal Regmi, the Chief District Officer of Parsa, and Komal Shah, the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Parsa.

 This competition, organized by Birgunj Metropolitan City and sponsored by Betran City Club, saw the participation of 8 teams, including 4 from Nepal and 4 from India, from Kartik 18 to 25."
