NIijgadh: The Nepal Electricity Authority has disconnected the power supply of 26,000 customers who failed to pay their electricity bills on time. Since October 12, the authority has been running a campaign to recover overdue electricity bills from customers nationwide, and as of Wednesday, they have disconnected the power supply of 26,244 customers. The outstanding amount owed by these disconnected customers is approximately NPR 62 crores. The NEA has been actively cutting off the power supply of customers with unpaid bills.
During this period, the highest number of
disconnections has occurred in Madesh Pradesh, where the distribution
centers in Janakpur have disconnected the power supply of 4,852 customers with
outstanding bills amounting to NPR 17 crores and 11 lakhs.
In Koshi Province, the distribution centers in
Biratnagar have disconnected the power supply of 4,331 customers with
outstanding bills amounting to NPR 9 crores and 81 lakhs.
In Lumbini Province, the distribution centers in
Nepalgunj have disconnected the power supply of 4,018 customers with
outstanding bills amounting to NPR 3 crores and 85 lakhs, while in Butwal, the
distribution centers have disconnected the power supply of 3,352 customers with
outstanding bills amounting to NPR 7 crores and 85 lakhs.
In Bagmati Province, the distribution centers in
Kathmandu have disconnected the power supply of 2,793 customers with
outstanding bills amounting to NPR 11 crores and 34 lakhs.
