Deepawali (Diwali) the festival of light, this festival is connected to various religious events, such as the day Ram returns to his Kingdome in Ayodhya with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshman after defeating the demon king Ravan. The people of Ayodhya welcomed Ram by lighting diyas and small earthen oil-filled lamps. It marks the victory of light over darkness, god over evil. Deepawali ( Diwali) is also associated with Lakshmi the goddess of prosperity and Ganesha the god of wisdom and the remover of obstacles.

Kukur Tihar dogs festival

Kukur Tihar is a special occasion in Nepal. It is the festival of dogs originating from Nepal which falls on the second day of the festival of Tihar. This festival is being celebrated across the nation

On this day every year, dogs are adored. Dogs have been recognized for being faithful sentries and loyal friends of people since ancient times.

Today, people bring delicious meals, worship dogs, and decorate them with flowers.

Dog, which is said to have accompanied Dharmaraj Yudhisthir on his journey to heaven in the mythological grand epic Mahabharat, has a close relationship with mankind.


Lakshmi Puja is celebrated with reverence and devotion 

In homes cleaned and decorated with the utmost care, it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi resides. According to tradition, today, people invite Goddess Lakshmi into their homes by lighting oil lamps, especially at windows, doors, courtyards, and various corners.

The main event takes place in the evening, with the belief that on this day, Goddess Lakshmi enters the house through the main door. From the entrance to the inner chambers, people decorate with oil lamps, and they make rangoli a special preparation of flattened rice and abir (a red-colored powder) to welcome Goddess Lakshmi.

Along with Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesh is also worshipped. People offer lamps, a vessel filled with water, their valuable jewelry, and money as part of the ritual. According to tradition, the puja begins in the evening and continues into midnight, with women of the household making noise to welcome Goddess Lakshmi.

After the Diwali festival, a special room is set up for Lakshmi Puja with the placement of lamps, a vessel, and the idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh. With great care and adherence to tradition, people offer coins, grains, fruits, vermillion, and decorated rice cakes to Goddess Lakshmi.

On this day, young girls are considered a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi, and they are also worshipped. They are offered gifts and money as a symbol of prosperity. Additionally, on this auspicious day, people play the traditional game of Deusi and Bhailo, and the players are given grains, rice cakes, and money.

It is believed that the presence of Goddess Lakshmi will not enter a home with unlit lamps. Therefore, lighting lamps and decorating the home with lights and candles is a prominent feature of the celebration.

Overall, Lakshmi Puja is a significant part of the Tihar festival, and it symbolizes the worship of wealth, prosperity, and the inner light of one's soul. This day marks an essential tradition in Hindu culture and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion."
