Gaurishankar Secondary School Wins Nijgadh Municipality's Fourth Presidential Running Shield Trophy


Bara, Nijgadh: Gaurishankar Secondary School, located in Ward No. 8 of Nijgadh, has claimed the prestigious trophy in the Fourth Presidential Running Shield Sports Competition.

The school secured the top position with an impressive haul of 22 gold, 11 silver, and 4 bronze medals, winning a total of 34 medals. In second place was Gaurishankar Secondary School from Sadkatol, Ward No. 6, which earned 3 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals, bringing their total to 11 medals. Public Secondary School finished third with 14 medals, including 1 gold, 5 silver, and 8 bronze.

Other notable performers included Bakaiya Thakur Secondary School and Neramavi Singauli, both of whom won 1 gold medal each. Bakaiya Thakur also secured 2 silver and 4 bronze medals for a total of 7, while Neramavi Singauli earned 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, making a total of 4. Despite not winning any gold medals, Neramavi Ratanpur and Neramavi Lal performed well, collecting 10 and 5 medals, respectively, in silver and bronze categories.

The event concluded today at the premises of Ratanpur Secondary School in Ward No. 11. During the closing ceremony, trophies, medals, and certificates were distributed to the winning players and schools by Nijgadh Municipality Mayor Surath Puri, Deputy Mayor Sommaya Thing, and other dignitaries.

The programme also featured speeches from key figures, including Mayor Puri, Deputy Mayor Thing, and the principal of Gaurishankar Secondary School, Badrinarayan Jha. Additionally, ward chairpersons Gokul Timalsina (Ward No. 3), Tek Bahadur Lama (Ward No. 7), Sahayya Guro (Ward No. 11), and Gyan Bahadur Gole (Ward No. 12), along with executive members and representatives of the Municipal Sports Development Committee, attended the event.

Facilitation for the ceremony was provided by Indradev Yadav, principal of Nepal National Secondary School, Ratanpur, along with Ramesh Timalsina and Siyaram Kumar. The programme was chaired by Mayor Puri.
