Bara, Nijgadh: The 51st anniversary and Parent's Day of Gaurishankar Secondary School in Nijgadh-6 were celebrated on Friday with great enthusiasm at the school premises.
The programme was chaired by the Chairperson of the School Management Committee, Thaneshwar Sapkota, with Achyut Prasad Mainali, Member of Parliament for Bara Constituency No. 1, as the chief guest. Madhesh Provincial Assembly Members Triloki Prasad Chaudhary and Mina Lama attended as special guests.
In his address, Chief Guest Mainali emphasised the need for technical education to advance the educational development of Nijgadh. The event saw the presence of prominent figures, including Nijgadh Municipality Mayor Surath Puri, Deputy Mayor Sommaya Thing, and Ward Chairpersons Ghanshyam Timalsina. Political leaders from various parties, including UML Municipal Secretary Tilak Ghalan, Nepali Congress Municipal Secretary Madhu Timalsina, Maoist Centre Municipal Chair Santosh Dangal, Unified Socialist Party Municipal Chair Bhimsen Sapkota, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair Khadga Prasad Upreti, also delivered their remarks.
Other notable attendees included Municipal Executive Member Sharmila Bik, former Ward Chair of Nijgadh-4 Jayaram Kunwar, Keshav Prasad Dhodari, FECOFUN Municipal Chair Kush Bahadur Thapa, parents, students, educators, journalists, and stakeholders.
Awards and Honours
During the event, students achieving excellent results in the SEE exams, particularly those securing A+ grades, were awarded cash prizes. Scholarships established by the Sapkota family from Sadkatol, Nijgadh-6, and former School Management Committee Chair Tikaram Timalsina were used to recognise outstanding students in both SEE and Grade 12 final exams.
Former committee officials, teachers, and staff were honoured for their contributions to the school’s overall development. Teachers were also recognised for their role in maintaining discipline and enhancing the school’s educational activities.
The programme concluded with special participation from social workers, including Kedhar Prasad Gautam, Kush Bahadur Thapa, Beni Bahadur Moktan, and Ambika Chaulagai, among others, marking the event as a significant milestone in the school’s history.
