Kalaiya, Bara – Bara Police have arrested four individuals and seized a large quantity of cannabis, weighing 212 kilograms and 928 grams, on Saturday. A pickup truck used for transportation was also impounded.
According to the District Police Office, Bara, a white pickup truck with registration number Province 03-01-024 Cha 4630 was intercepted, and the four occupants were taken into custody.
Those arrested include the pickup truck driver, 28-year-old Rabi Karki, from Thaha Municipality-4, Talung, Makwanpur. Also apprehended were 46-year-old Bir Bahadur Gole from Thaha Municipality-12, Tistung; 23-year-old Sajan Muktan from Uttarapani, Hetauda Municipality-14, Makwanpur; and 31-year-old Mahesh Tamang from Aapsi Chowk, Thakre Rural Municipality-7, Dhading District.
The arrests were made based on special intelligence indicating that a substance resembling cannabis was being transported from Hetauda towards Parsauni Gandak. A joint police team, commanded by Police Inspector Khem Prasad Nepal from the District Police Office, Bara, along with personnel from the Area Police Office, Simara, and Parsauni, Bara, conducted the operation.
Police had set up a checkpoint on the Gandak Canal road section in Bahuari, Parwanipur Rural Municipality-5, Bara, where they were inspecting vehicles and pedestrians. The intercepted pickup truck, traveling from Hetauda towards Parsauni Gandak, was found to be secretly transporting the cannabis-like substance concealed within rice husks.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bijayraj Pandit, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Bara, stated that further investigation into the arrested individuals is ongoing.
