Birgung, Parsa — A heartbreaking tragedy struck on Friday morning when a 12-year-old boy from Bara lost his life after drowning in a pond near the Chhath Ghat area of Ward No. 28, Birgunj Metropolitan City.
According to the District Police Office, Parsa, the deceased has been identified as Shanikumar Sah, the son of Kanhai Sah from Bishrampur Rural Municipality Ward No. 5, Musaharwa, Bara.
Local residents
immediately informed security forces after spotting the boy drowning around 10
a.m. Responding swiftly, a joint rescue team was deployed — including
five personnel from the Armed Police Force Base Camp Belwa
under the command of Deputy Inspector Lok Bahadur Karki, seven
personnel from Armed Police Battalion No. 13 Headquarters Parsa
led by Assistant Inspector Sanjiv Yadav, and a police team
from Birta Ward Police Office under Inspector Naveen
Thapa.
After a tireless
search operation, the rescue team recovered the boy’s body from the pond and
handed it over to Nepal Police for necessary legal procedures.
The quiet pond,
usually a place of worship and celebration during Chhath, turned into
a scene of grief — a reminder of how quickly joy can turn into sorrow. Locals
expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family, mourning the loss of a young
life gone too soon.
