Bara: The Nijgadh Municipality Executive Office has announced that it will observe the 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025 on Wednesday, Mangsir 17, 2082, with a special and people-centred programme.
The day will be marked under the international theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social
progress”, and the national slogan,
“Promoting a disability-inclusive society:
strengthening social progress”.
According to the municipality, the main objective of
the programme is to ensure that persons
with disabilities receive easy, simple, and accessible health services
without the burden of travelling. By reaching beneficiaries directly at their
homes, the initiative aims to address health needs with dignity and care.
Public Health
Officer Ramesh Lama, who is
coordinating the programme, said that medical teams will visit homes to carry
out basic health examinations, provide
necessary medical advice, and collect health-related information to
support future planning.
The municipality has called upon concerned institutions, social organisations, and
all residents to actively cooperate and participate to make the
programme successful.
Nijgadh Municipality has also stated that the day will
be observed with a strong message of respect,
facilitation, and inclusion, reaffirming its commitment to building a
more inclusive and compassionate community for persons with disabilities.
Local stakeholders have
welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful step towards ensuring
that no citizen is left behind in access to basic health services.
