Bara — As cold weather has increased across the country, including the Terai region, the number of patients visiting health centres in rural areas of Bara has risen sharply over the past week.
With the rise in cold, more people are suffering from viral fever, cold and cough, cold diarrhoea, pneumonia, asthma and other respiratory problems. Health workers say government and private health facilities in rural areas are seeing a higher flow of patients due to cold-related illnesses.Doctors report that Provincial Hospital Kalaiya and nearby local health posts
are receiving more patients with fever,
cough, breathing problems, asthma and pneumonia than before.
According to the Provincial Hospital Kalaiya, the daily number of patients has increased compared to
previous weeks. Most patients visiting the outpatient department (OPD)
are suffering from health problems caused by cold weather.
Doctors say children
and elderly people are the most affected by extreme cold. People with
weak immunity are at higher risk. Health experts have advised the public to wear warm clothes, avoid cold wind and fog,
and visit health facilities early
if any health problems appear.
