Bara — Due to increasing cold and cold-wave conditions, Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City and Birgunj Metropolitan City have decided to extend winter holidays for schools.
Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City has extended school
holidays by three days, while
Birgunj Metropolitan City has added two
more days of closure.
These holidays will be adjusted from the
annual leave, and schools will reopen normally from Wednesday, Poush 16.
Similarly, Birgunj Metropolitan City extended its
earlier announced school holiday as cold weather continued and conditions did
not improve. Previously, schools in Birgunj were closed for five days from Poush 7 to Poush 11, but
the holiday was extended further due to ongoing cold waves.
Following instructions from Birgunj Mayor Rajeshman Singh, schools will also remain
closed on Poush 13 and 14.
According to Anand Lamichhane,
Chief of the Education Administration Division, Poush 15 is a public holiday for Tamu Lhosar, so schools in Birgunj will
reopen only from Poush 16.
Earlier notices had planned to reopen schools on Poush
13, but as the cold weather continued, authorities decided to give extra
holidays, putting children’s health and
safety first.
